About Us
VASAVYA
MAHILA MANDALI (VMM) is a non-profit, non - governmental, non-political,
secular, voluntary organization working for the all-round development of the
Women, Children and Youth.
VMM
was founded in 1969 by Gora and Saraswathi Gora, Gandhians, atheists,
renowned Social reformers
and champions of humanism. Mrs. Saraswathi Gora is the recipient of
various National and International awards for the promotion of humanism and for
their contributions in the field of women and child welfare such as :
- Janaki Devi Bajaj Award –

- G.D. Birla Award - 2000
- Basava Award - 2001.

With its
headquarters based in Vijayawada, Vasavya's activities reach all over Andhra
Pradesh. During the last three decades under the dynamic leadership of
Mrs.Chennupati Vidya, Former member of Parliament, VMM has grown as a pioneer
service organization . Today VMM is extending services to more than 2,000,000
people, spread over rural and urban Andhra Pradesh.
Vasavya Mahila
Mandali follows Mahatma Gandhi's ideology in addition to Gora's Secular, Social,
and constructive work. It stands for service to humanity and individual
development with appropriate technology, value based education, health care,
women empowerment and self reliance. It also follows collective work with
participatory approach.
The
Strategy of Vasavya is to work with a network of NGO'S as well as individuals ,
in a participatory way and to empower them to work towards a better Social,
economic and cultural environment.
Vasavya
Mahila Mandali is located in the heart of
Vijayawada city in Andhra Pradesh.
The land measuring 1200sq. meters is donated by philanthropist Mr.
Chennupati Seshagiri Rao who is a backbone to the organization, extending
support and encouragement to all the activities of Vasavya.
