Red Ribbon Express
To create awareness about HIV/AIDS among public the Red Ribbon Express came to Vijayawada on 22nd April 2010 at the 10th platform of Railway stations and stared on  23rd April 2010 evening. In this two days complain VMM staff were contributed their services as volunteers in creating the awareness on HIV/AIDS to the Red Ribbon Express visitors. During the first day campaign nearly 5,466 people were visited among these from our area nearly 108 people were watched the exhibition. District collector, Mayor, MLA, DM&HO, ADM&HO, DPM, PD of WCD, other government officials and NGOs are participated in this express
 

VMM Mobile ICTC conducted HIV testings to 263 visitors of Red Ribbon Express who were came voluntarily for testings, among them 11 (4%) were found positive. On 24th and 25th April 2010, 305 members are tested in Bhimavaram where the Red Ribbon Express complain was held, among them 12 (4%) were found with HIV/AIDS.

Resource Mobilization:

YCB, ARDAR and Deepthi SSRs are mobilized the resources in material worth of INR64675 and redistributed to the needy families. The materials are nutrition items, clothes and educational things. 

Nutrition Demonstrations:
Fourteen nutritional demonstrations were conducted with PLHA and general community in the operational areas. The demonstrated items are Ragi Zaawa, Vegetable Roti, Ragi Dosa and vegetable pakodi. Community members were shared that these demos were very helpful to improve the health conditions by preparing various types of foods. PLHA and CLHA are getting healthy.

Sensitization Meetings:
ORWs of six SSRs are conducted 98 sensitization meetings to ANM’s, Auto Drivers, Village elders, Health Volunteers, SHG members, RMP Doctors, General community Group, Asha Volunteers, PRI members, MPHWs and Anganwadi Teachers. Total 733 members are attended to the meeting. Among them male are 272 and Female are 461. ORWs are explained about the activities of CHAHA and shared the roles and responsibilities of community in preventing the HIV/AIDS in the society. Staff requested their support for better implementation of the programme.

On the occasion of World Health Day, YCB has organized a sensitization meeting at Health Center, Gujarathipeta, Srikakulam Urban with the cooperation of Dist. Field Publicity Officer, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Forty four women were attended to the meeting were sensitized on the issue of HIV transmission, importance of UIP for reducing the infant mortality and mother mortality, and the importance of iodized salt for controlling the goiter among children. The active participants were awarded with gifts by the Field Publicity Officer. 

One to one sessions:
3146 one to one sessions were conducted by the ORWs and Volunteers.  SSRs are focused on HIV/AIDS sensitization, STIs, prevention methods, HIV-TB co infection and knowledge on referral institutions information and identification of new suspected clients during the sessions.

One to group sessions:
297 one to group sessions were conducted during this month. These are small unorganized groups where staff conducts informal sessions on different issues.  ORWs discussed modes of transmission, status of HIV in the state, care and prevention methods etc.

Meeting on Star Health Insurance Renewal:
A meeting was conducted at Green Vision, SSR, Visakhapatnam on 26th April 2010. Mr.Nagraj from PSI came to Green Vision and has explained about the Renewal process among forty five participants who have the star health insurance i.e. these members have to pay an amount of Rs.750 in the month of July2010 for of their health insurance.
